BLIND INJUSTICE
Wherever it is performed, Blind Injustice attracts passionate broad-based community involvement and expands the audience for Opera.
Blind Injustice, premiered at Cincinnati Opera during the summer of 2019 to a sold out run and critical acclaim. The opera, conducted by Maestro John Morris Russell with a powerful libretto by David Cote, inspired direction and dramaturgy by Robin Guarino and music by Richards is based on the book, Blind Injustice by Mark Godsey, director of the Ohio Innocence Project and tells the stories of six unjustly imprisoned people and their struggles to prove their innocence with the dedicated help of attorneys and law students at the Ohio Innocence Project. I am eternally grateful to Evans Mirageas, Robin Guarino, and Marcus Küchle of Opera Fusion: New Works - Mark Godsey, Clarence Elkins, Laurese Glover, Rickey Jackson, Eugene Johnson, Nancy Smith and Derrick Wheatt for their trust, Susan Feder of the Mellon Foundation and Diane and J. David Rosenberg for their support.
